ReceGuard performs optical character recognition on the iPhone. The app does not send receipt images or extracted expense data to a ReceGuard processing server. Records stay on the device unless you choose private iCloud synchronization.
Smart Receipts is built around a connected account. Its paid plans add automatic cloud backup, a web portal, email forwarding, and multi-device restoration. The company says data is encrypted with TLS in transit and AES-256 at rest. Smart Receipts supports iOS, Android, Apple Watch, and the web. Pro users can forward emailed receipts and Max users can connect eligible US or Canadian bank accounts and import statements.
