Export
The Excel file has two sheets: receipts and line items. CSV uses commas and a dot for decimals.
Drag in receipt photos or PDFs. The text is read on your own device, the key fields are filled in for you to check, and everything exports to a spreadsheet in one click.
The Excel file has two sheets: receipts and line items. CSV uses commas and a dot for decimals.
Each file is read with an open-source OCR engine (Tesseract) that is downloaded once and then runs entirely inside your browser. The tool then looks for the merchant name at the top of the receipt, a date in any common format, the subtotal, the sales tax and the total, and every line that ends in a price. PDFs are rendered page by page first, so scanned invoices work too.
OCR is never perfect, so every field stays editable. A small check tells you whether the line items add up to the subtotal; if they don't, look for a misread digit. You can also open the recognized text and correct it before re-reading the fields.
The receipts sheet has one row per receipt: file, merchant, date, currency, subtotal, tax, total and the number of line items. The line-items sheet lists every item with its receipt, so you can filter or pivot by merchant or month. Both open in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.
A spreadsheet is a summary, not a substitute for the receipt itself. The IRS expects you to keep the supporting documents for as long as the return can be examined — see how long to keep receipts. If you file Schedule C, the expense category finder helps you sort the rows.
Yes. There is no account, no limit and no watermark. The reading engine runs on your device, so there is no server cost to pass on.
No. Files are opened inside the browser tab and processed there. Closing the tab discards them. The page only downloads the OCR engine and language data from this site.
Yes. Each PDF page is rendered and read like a photo. Text-based PDFs and scanned PDFs both work; up to 10 pages per file are read.
On a sharp, flat photo most fields are read correctly. Faded thermal paper, shadows and crumpled receipts lower accuracy, which is why every value can be corrected before export.
