Cover sheet

Reading details from photos loads the OCR engine once (about 7 MB).

What the merged PDF contains

The PDF starts with a cover sheet: your name, the employer or client, the period, the purpose, the number of receipts and the total, with a line for your signature. Next comes an index table listing every receipt with its number, date, merchant, category, amount and the page it is on. Then each receipt follows on its own page, scaled to fit, with a caption that repeats its number, date and amount. Page numbers run through the whole file.

That layout is what accounts-payable teams and auditors look for: a summary they can check against the total, and a receipt for every line they can find in seconds.

How to use it for an expense reimbursement

  1. Fill in the cover details and pick the currency your employer reimburses in.
  2. Drop in all receipts for the trip or month. PDFs are split into pages automatically.
  3. Check the date, merchant and amount read from each receipt, add a category, and sort by date.
  4. Download the PDF and attach it to your expense report.

In the US, reimbursements under an employer’s accountable plan are tax-free only if you substantiate each expense within a reasonable period; IRS Publication 463 treats 60 days after the expense as reasonable. See IRS Publication 463.

Is a PDF of receipts good enough for the IRS?

Yes, if the images are legible and complete. The IRS accepts electronic copies of records as long as they are accurate and can be read and reproduced (Rev. Proc. 97-22). Keep the files for as long as the return can be examined: see how long to keep receipts. For receipts you no longer have, use the lost-receipt statement.

Frequently asked questions

Is the receipt PDF merger free?

Yes. It is free, needs no account and adds no watermark.

Are my receipts uploaded anywhere?

No. Photos and PDFs are processed inside your browser tab and the PDF is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can I add PDF receipts and invoices?

Yes. Each page of a PDF becomes its own receipt page, so a multi-page invoice is kept in order.

How are the dates and amounts filled in?

For PDFs with text, the tool reads it directly; for photos it uses on-device OCR. You can switch this off and type the details yourself. Every field stays editable.

What if a receipt photo is sideways?

Use the rotate button on that row. Turn on “Brighten faded receipts” to lift faded thermal paper in the final PDF.

How many receipts can I merge?

Up to 80 pages in one PDF. For larger batches, make one PDF per month or per trip.
