Multi-Page Receipts: One Entry, Every Page

The page that proves what you bought and the page that proves what you paid are often different pieces of paper. Both belong to the same record.

The problem with one photo per receipt

Two situations break the assumption that a receipt is a single image, and both are common.

The long till roll. A supermarket or hardware receipt can run to half a metre. Photographed in one shot it is unreadable; folded to fit the frame it loses the total.

The itemised bill. Restaurants, hotels and trade suppliers routinely print the breakdown on one page and the total on another. An app that treats every photo as a separate receipt splits your evidence in half, and the half with the total says nothing about what was bought.

How it works

Pages stay attached to a single entry. During a scan you can keep adding pages, and the review screen shows them as a swipeable set with a page count, so a page cannot be quietly lost.

Every page is read, and the parse runs across all of them together. A total printed on page three is still found, and a merchant name that only appears on page one still fills the field.

Adding pages later

A receipt is often only discovered to be multi-page after the fact: the total page was filed, and the page listing what the charges were for turns up a week later in a jacket pocket.

You can add pages to a receipt that was saved months ago. The new pages are read too, and anything the original scan left blank — total, date, tax, payment method — is filled in from them. Nothing already recorded is overwritten.

Emailed PDFs keep their pages.

A multi-page PDF shared in from Mail arrives as one receipt with its pages intact, rather than as several unrelated entries.

What the export contains

A multi-page receipt exports whole. The PDF export lays the first page out under the summary and gives every remaining page a sheet of its own, so the evidence that leaves the app is the evidence you captured.
