Share From Mail: Email Receipts Without the Detour

A large share of receipts arrive as an attachment and are never printed at all.

Three taps

  1. Open the receipt in Mail. Any emailed PDF or image receipt — invoices, tickets, order confirmations.
  2. Tap Share, then ReceGuard. The app appears in the iOS share sheet alongside everything else.
  3. Check and save. The merchant, date and total are read on your device. Confirm them and it is filed.

Why this beats a screenshot

The instinct with an emailed receipt is to screenshot it, which throws away resolution and any embedded text, and usually crops something the record needed. Sharing the original PDF keeps both.

A multi-page PDF also stays one receipt, so an itemised invoice keeps its pages together rather than arriving as three unrelated entries.

It works from anywhere with a share sheet

Mail is the common case, but the share extension is not limited to it. Files, Safari, a banking app, a messaging app — anywhere iOS offers a share sheet with a PDF or image, ReceGuard is one of the destinations.

Still on-device.

A shared file is read with the same on-device recognition as a camera scan. It does not take a detour through a server on the way in.

Digital receipts worth keeping

  • Email receipts — save or forward the original PDF rather than re-photographing a screen.
  • Subscription summaries — monthly statements covering several charges; split them if the lines belong to different categories.
  • Apple Pay and Wallet — proof of payment, but not an itemised receipt. Keep the merchant's receipt too.

Start with one receipt.

No account, no upload, no setup. Scan something from your wallet and see what the record looks like.
